History of the Department
Established in 2003, the Department of Chemistry began admitting students to its Master’s program under the Institute of Natural Sciences starting in the 2003–2004 academic year, and to its doctoral program in the 2009–2010 academic year. Starting with the 2010-2011 academic year, the department began offering undergraduate education in chemistry. As a department with an international character, hosting both Turkish and international students, we currently have six sub-disciplines: Analytical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, and Biochemistry. The Department of Chemistry conducts its educational activities with a faculty consisting of 8 professors, 2 associate professors, and 2 research assistants. Within the department, there are a total of 6 research laboratories, including instrumental analysis and research laboratories.
